Learning and development
We are committed to our staff and have developed a comprehensive learning and development programme in order to extend skills and knowledge, unlock opportunities and help you reach your full potential.
Our approach to learning and development is to invest for the full life cycle of your career. We support you in a range of training courses, technical and professional development, leadership and management initiatives and help you develop an individual performance plan, matched to your career goals.
We are fully supportive of utilising the apprenticeship levy, as we see our people as the future of the company. But we don’t just support new recruited apprentices - we are committed to developing our people no matter what stage of their career and use the apprenticeship programme to professionally and academically develop our existing employees.
We have partnership arrangements with several excellent providers including the University of Exeter and support technical engineering degrees and masters level courses offering paid leave for exams and approved studies training in the workplace and at college.
We support professional qualifications through various institutions including the Institution of Civil Engineers, supporting our people in their development at all levels of professional membership and registration from technician (EngTech) to chartered engineer (CEng) .
The mental and physical health of our staff is hugely important to us. We are committed to zero harm, making sure no one is harmed as a result of the work they do. This goes for mental health as well. We are investing in mental health first aid courses so our teams are equipped to support their colleagues through challenging times whenever they happen. We offer access to free independent, confidential support services available 24/7, occupational health reviews and free eye tests. We also offer optional discounts at a number of external providers and health clubs.
